The great people at Triggertrap have an incredible product the works with your smartphone or tablet and your camera to provide many special photographic techniques. One of these techniques is light painting. Light painting is a technique that allows the photographer to literally “paint the light” onto the subject using a flashlight or other source of light. The movement of the light onto or across the subject is done during a long exposure on your camera.
It’s important for the camera to be mounted securely on a tripod and that it not move during the exposure. Then, during the long exposure, you use the flashlight to illuminate the subject or areas (as in landscape shots) that you want highlighted in the image. If you’re shooting alone, you need to pay attention to where you’re shining the light and so you need to have your smartphone or tablet securely attached to your tripod. In this way, you can set the exposure (using triggertrap Mobile) and then you can move away from your tripod to do the light painting.
In the video below, the Triggertrap folks demonstrate how to Paint with Light using Triggertrap Mobile and one of the X-Grip tripod phone clamps we recommend. We’re posting this video to give you a first-hand view of how they’re using our RAP-B-121-UN7U The RAM Universal X-Grip Cell Phone Holder and Clamp. The spring loaded X-Grip™ holder expands and contracts, allowing for a perfect custom fit of your cell phone. Designed into the mount is a 1″ diameter patented rubber ball and socket system with adjustment points at the both ends of the socket arm; this with a twist of the arm knob, allows you can move the X-Grip™ mount to your optimum viewing position. Use with iPhone and Android phones. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE X-GRIP PHONE CLAMP.
